This course is taught by our New York State DCJS Certified Law Enforcement firearms instructors. Our comprehensive firearms training course covers the fundamentals of gun safety, tactical shooting, proper use of deadly force, and gun care for pistols. This firearms course is for intermediate to advanced shooters. Beginners are encouraged to take Basic Pistol first.


The cost of this course includes teaching materials, time on the range and targets. Ammunition, duty firearm, duty belt, magazine holster, and level II holsters are not included in the course cost. Participants must separately purchase 1000 rounds of ammo and bring their own equipment. A list of the required equipment will be provided to you upon registration of the training. Participants must pass a shooting course with at least 70% in the designated target area, as well as score at least 70% on a written exam. Upon completion and passing of this course, participants will be issued a Certificate of Completion. This certificate must be submitted with an application to the NYS Department of State to apply for a security guard registration change of status to armed security guard.


If you have a NYS Pistol Permit/License, please bring it to the first day of class.


You must complete all the days in the course and pass the exams to receive a certificate of completion.
